UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi has visited the office of Vorontsov Land of the Leopard National Park, where he learned about the park's conservation efforts.
Mr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi arrived in Vladivostok for the Eastern Economic Forum at the invitation of Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dmitry Kobylkin. Nuritdin Inamov, director of the ministry's Department of International Cooperation, accompanied the UAE minister to the Land of the Leopard office in Vladivostok and to the Centre for the Rehabilitation and Reintroduction of Tigers and Other Rare Animals in the village of Alekseyevka.
The guest was told about the main activities in the national park and the idea of the Gamov Leopards wildlife cluster, a tourism zone on the Gamov Peninsula that will be incorporated into the national park.
Land of the Leopard Director Viktor Bardyuk and Deputy Director for Research Yuri Darman also took Mr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi to see Leo 131M, a male leopard who was found wounded last spring and taken to the centre in the village of Alekseyevka for rehabilitation. Employees at the centre told the visiting minister about the programme for the rehabilitation of rare felines and their subsequent release into the wild in the Far East. At the end of his visit, the UAE minister was shown around the enclosures where dozens of animals had lived during their rehabilitation over the past few years.
