Over 500 runners took part in the race to support rare animals of the Far East, which opened the second day of the 5th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok. The event received support from the Amur Tiger Centre, the Far Eastern Leopards autonomous non-profit organisation and the Roscongress Foundation. The 1 km and 5 km courses were laid out at the Primorsky Oceanarium.
"This year the traditional race that unites forum participants and locals had the motto ‘Sport as a Way of Life.' Jogging in good company and in a beautiful setting is the best way to start the day and gives you a great boost of energy to work," said Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov, who ran 5 km.
2012 Olympic Games medallist and 17-time world champion in canoe sprint Ivan Shtyl, VEB Ventures CEO Oleg Teplov, Vladivostok Mayor Oleg Gumenyuk and members of the Friends for Leadership international pool of young leaders representing Japan, India and Nigeria took part in the race.
Yevgeny Karpunin and Darya Matveycheva were the fastest to run the 1 km distance. Roman Isayev and Darya Kozlova won the 5 km race.
The winners and runners-up among men and women in the 1 km and 5 km distances received medals and cups, as well as souvenirs from the Amur Tiger Centre and the Far Eastern Leopards organisation.
