Land of the Leopard national park held events to mark Day of the Ecologist and the World Environment Day. The guests were invited to participate in a workshop to make spotted headwear, the flash mob Let Us Protect the Leopard Together and also in a special quest Forest Watch.
Most of the visitors came from the Khasan District of the Primorye Territory. They all took part in the spotted flash mob by standing in a cat-paw shaped formation and chanting the slogan Let Us Protect the Leopard Together! After that all those who wanted went on a travel quest following the national park's most popular route — the Leopard Trail. Looking for hints on the stands, signs and interactive displays, participants solved brain-teasers and a special puzzle. The players' correct answers were awarded with badges featuring the Far Eastern leopard, Amur tiger, lynx or leopard cat.
"Day of the Ecologist is a professional holiday for environmental protection workers, but it always turns into a family festival in Land of the Leopard," says Anna Utitskikh of the Environmental Education Department at Land of the Leopard. Both children and grownups from the south of the Primorye Territory accepted the Forest Watch challenge. The festival's guests were able to learn more about the unique culture of their native land, about the Far Eastern leopard and about how people are trying to protect it."
