On 16 January, The Leopard World Through the Lens of Yury Shibnev's Camera exhibition will open at the Local History Museum of Slavyanka, the capital of the Khasan District. The exhibition organised by Vorontsov Land of the Leopard, where Yury Shibnev worked, will be open in Slavyanka for one month.
The event has been timed for the Day of Nature Reserves and National Parks of Russia, which is marked on 11 January.
The exhibition includes over 30 photographs of Far Eastern leopards and other animals. Most of them were taken decades ago by camera traps made from redesigned Lyubitel cameras. Shibnev was the first to use this method to photograph one of the world's rarest cats in the wild.
The exhibition moved to Slavyanka from the City Museum Exhibition Centre of the Arsenyev Primorye Museum in Vladivostok.
