This male leopard was captured in early March 2019 near the Kedrovaya Pad Nature Reserve. The animal was severely injured: he was starving, with a broken front leg and many puncture wounds. Experts believe that he was injured in a fight with another leopard.
Images of the animal had not been captured by camera traps in Russia; therefore the ID number Leo 131M was given to him after he was taken from the wild.
The leopard is currently staying at the Centre for the Rehabilitation and Reintroduction of Tigers and Other Rare Animals in the village of Alekseyevka, where he successfully underwent medical treatment and several surgeries. Leo 131M was moved into an open enclosure in early May.
