Typhoon has been spotted repeatedly in the central part of Land of the Leopard. He was first caught on camera traps in 2013, and then for a second time a year later.
The leopard was named by members of the Russian Geographical Society, who voted at its festival in November 2014.
In May 2015, trail cameras captured Typhoon in the territory of the leopard Meamur in the Kedrovaya Pad Nature Reserve. In autumn 2015, Typhoon was seen in the company of the leopardess Bary. In March 2016, he left a scent mark in Kedrovaya Pad, thus declaring it his territory.
In 2017, researchers received a video that captured Typhoon's voice. This is the first recording they have of a Far Eastern leopard vocalising in the wild.
Land of the Leopard researchers received no less sensational images in 2018: Typhoon and the leopardess Taiga were spotted in the Kedrovaya Pad Nature Reserve during their mating games.
