Head of Public Relations, Deputy Director at the WWF Russia Amur branch
Vasily Solkin started working in the Primorye Territory as a Pacific Fleet reporter. Later, he was a research associate at the Pacific Institute of Geography, where he ended up on a team of trailblazers working on methods of catching tigers and leopards as part of a radio tracking project. He then decided to combine the two professions and established a small media holding, Call of the Taiga [Zov Taigi], which has been publishing a journal of the same name for 20 years (now in electronic form) and making films about wildlife, which have won a variety of awards at Russian and international film festivals. Vasily is currently Head of Public Relations, Deputy Director at the WWF Russia Amur branch.
His goal is to preserve the Far Eastern leopard, the rarest large cat on the planet. He devoted seven documentary films and one series to the leopard. In April 2014, Solkin was awarded the Order of Honour for his professional activity, a significant contribution to the development of Russia, his services in the humanitarian sphere and civic activism.
