Chair of the Far Eastern Leopards Supervisory Board, Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport
Born in Leningrad. Graduated from the Translation Department of the Leningrad State University Faculty of Philology and the KGB Higher School in Minsk.
Served three long postings abroad, in Scandinavia and Africa.
Following the reorganisation of the KGB, joined the Foreign Intelligence Service and then the Federal Security Service.
Held the positions of FSB deputy director, Russian National Security Council secretary, defence minister, and deputy prime minister. Since 22 December 2011, he has been the presidential chief of staff.
In 2011, Sergei Ivanov became chair of the Far Eastern Leopards Supervisory Board.
On 12 August 2016, Sergei Ivanov was appointed Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport.
